Robot Battle Tournament in Glendale A Smash!

Rolling Robots’ first monthly battle tournament in Glendale was a hit!

Close to 20 combatants competed for this month’s top prize, a Syma S107 Gyro Helicopter, in qualifying tournaments throughout the day and over the weekend. The battle was fierce, but after a full day of mayhem, the field was whittled down to three of Glendale’s best robot masters.

Those of you in attendance – or those of you who were following us on Twitter – already know the names of our Top 3 finishers. But for those not lucky enough to attend, this month’s Top 3 were Jokerster, Abraham and Youngblood.

Jokerster traded in his first-place prize, a pair of Dodgers-Giants tickets, for a helicopter. So along with Abraham’s second-place award, we ended up awarding TWO helicopters on the day.

“I’m already going to the game,” said Jokerster, smiling.

We can’t blame Jokerster for the trade…seriously, R/C ‘copters are WAY more fun than baseball, right?

Youngblood, our third-place winner, walked away with a Star Wars Darth Vader Robotic Arm kit. He was also winner of our Fighting Spirit award, given to the contestant who best embodied both good sportsmanship and high energy.

Even after he won his semi-final round, Youngblood refused to put his controller down, choosing instead to continue “training” by challenging a Rolling Robots employee.

“This is kind of addictive,” he said.

We hope to see all of our contestants at our next Battle Tournament. Until then, keep training hard…maybe you will make our next Top 3.
