Robots Rock Workshop | February 2012

Recommended for ages 7 and up.

This workshop will have four sessions scheduled, all meeting on Thursday afternoons: 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, and 3/1. All sessions will be scheduled from 3:30-5:00 pm, unless otherwise stated. There is a minimum of 6 students per session; we reserve the right to cancel workshops that do not meet this minimum.

In a series of hands-on activities, your kids will experience all the key elements of robotics. Using special “Vex” kits – the same robots used in high school competitions – they’ll learn to use tools, wheels, gears, and motors to design and build a radio-controlled robot.

Each session will starts with a new robotic design challenge. Students will then learn and work together in small groups to build and optimize a robot to complete the day’s challenge. On the last day, students will then use their skills to build a robot that they get to take home. These workshops are specially designed to introduce high-school level concepts to kids both with and without previous experience with robotics.
