Continuation of tech starter class expanding into robot building and mechanical concepts. This workshop presents STEM Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts in a hands on interactive environment. the group is limited to 12 students with 2 instructors. Classes meet 1 per week on an ongoing basis. Sign up for 4 weeks the discounted 8 week plan.

Rolling Robots: Technology of Robotics

Starts February 14th 2012 meeting each Tuesday 1pm to 2:30PM

Over the next 8 weeks we will introduce students to robot building technology. Students will get trained in electrical circuits, mechanical assembly, radio control and robotic motion. We begin with content from our Tech Starter series to teach kids the language and symbols of electronics as well as how to build basic circuits that are essential to robotics design. The building and mechanical learning is based on special "Vex" kits - the same robots used in high school competitions - they'll learn to use tools, wheels, gears, and motors to design and build a radio controlled robot. 

Each session starts with a new robotic design challenge. Students will then work together in small groups to build and optimize a robot to complete the day's challenge. These workshops are specially designed to introduce technology concepts to kids with and without previous experience with robotics.

The workshops introduce S.T.E.M. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts years before your kids see them in school. Our curriculum is based on K-12 STEM standard that are being adopted nationwide in an effort to improve technology education in America.
